Default New slip ons have a question

Hey all

I just got the Samson silver bullet fishtails no baffles for my 03 RKC. I was going to install this morning but had a question. I have a stage 1 setup am I going to need to do any adjustments or anything putting these slip ons on? I am leaving for a ride down skyline drive next Friday night from the Ocean City MD area and don't want to find out I should have done something then....

Thanks
Joe

If you did not have free flowing exhaust before the engine will be running lean. This will be a problem on your trip as your engine will already be running hot from the climbing in the mountains.

Called the service department at the local HD shop and they said it should not be problem on an 03. Said the only thing to look for was throttle response heat should not be a problem. Any thoughts?

If you still have the stock air cleaner do not change it if you do not go on a test ride first.
thank you,

Your going to be running lean, lose some bottom end and run hotter !, Your ears will be ringing after the first few hours and will want to get baffles for longer trips.

WHAT DID YOU SAY?????http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_x0AzhByC-q...0/big-ear3.jpg

I went for about a 15 mile test ride and I think my ears are bleeding. Gonna need some baffles.

If I am reading this right, you say you already have a stage one setup and all you are doing is replacing the slipons. If you already have a stage one setup then you are not replacing stock pipes and your bike is already setup for increased air flow. Your Samson pipes might flow a little more freely than the ones you are replacing but it should not be a problem.

Yes jjnoble you are reading it correctly I do have a stage 1 setup and have been running Rush upslash slipons for about the last 40-45,000 miles. Was looking for a new look and sound for the next 50,000 miles. Got 56k now probably will think about a new bike at 100k.

My test ride appeared good. No hesitation in the throttle and did not feel any power loss did not appear to run any hotter than normal and no backfiring or popping on decel. Anything else I should be looking for?
Thanks
Joe

Just make sure you have them bolted on good and go.
