Default Gauge Swap questions

Ok first off, I apologize if this has been asked before (I did try searching).
I have a 2000 Police Electra that I am swapping the police fairing harness out on it for a 2004 stock fairing harness. This is supposedly going to work via my parts guy at the local Harley dealer. My question is though, could I use the 08 titanium gauges in the bike? I saw a few things about the security flasher etc not working, but my bike doesn't have any of that anyway so those don't really cause me any concern. I am more looking at whether the gauges themselves will work and if I will need to mod the harness to make it work or if that is even possible.

I just put some 2007 gauges in my new(er) style fairing.. I have a 94..
They all work..except the oil pressure gauge reads backwards..lol
I have the mechanical speedo gear so the Tach & Speedo are not 2007.. but the others work..

This is a new bike to me so I honestly know almost nothing about it currently. Not sure if the 2000 model has the mechanical speedo gear or not but I am definitely wanting to change both the speedo and tach as well as the rest of the gauges.

Can't say for sure about the speedo and tach but I think it very unlikely.

HD started using serial data from the ECM in '04 for the speedo and tach which is why the speedo and tach gauges listed in the parts and accessories book show different fitment for '03 and older bikes.

Your harness will connect to the newer gauges but I doubt they will work since the interconnect harness won't be using serial data from the main harness.

But I am not positive.

The speedo and tach use a different pick up/sending unit, you can not use a 2008 gauge in your 2000 bike without changing the sending units.
If it was that easy Harley would list the 2008 speedo and Tach for your bike, they want to make $$$$
I doubt that you can use the 2006-07 gauges ether. the newest gauges you could use would be the 2004 model years

Try reversing the polarity on the oil gage conector?
