Both the caps & the hottoppers work & both have issues. The caps let a little water in & will rust inside the allen head bolts. Not much, but some people care. The hottoppers fit & give a good clean look, but are a challenge to take off. Not real difficult, but I've known mechanics that won't spend the time it takes to be careful, & just yank 'em off with a pair of pliers. Tends to ruin the hottopper & adds to the expense of the repair when you have to buy new ones.

If you're running hottopers, remove them before taking your bike to the shop. I think they look good, don't use them myself.

my warranty is voided already, as I use a wax that wasn't made by harley so that is not an issue....Also I had hottoppers on my last bike (Streetbob) and I didn't like them...they were a pain to removed, and several of them cracked and peeled, I expected more from them especially for the price (they weren't near as much as chrome bolts, but costs way more than cheap plastic caps should)
