Default 2011 SG W'Shield Replacement: Wind Splitter or Klock Werks?

I want to replace the 4" standard windshield on my new 2011 SG with something a bit taller (I'm 6'1").

The HD Wind Splitter only comes in one size (7"), but they claim that one size fits all. I have a line on a used one for a great price, so I'm tempted to try it.

The Klock Werks Flare windshields come in several larger sizes (6.5", 8.5" and 11") as well as several tints (tinted, dark smoke and black).

Both HD and Klock Werks shields sell for about the same money.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these windshields? I'd love to hear some feedback on them.

Thanks!

I am 6ft and have the KW 6.5. If you have a line on a used windsplitter, give it a try. If you dont like it you can sell it. 7 or 8.5 inches is around where you want to be to look over the shield.

I have the 8.5" Klock Werks in the medium tint and I really like it. Still able to easily look over the windshield, but does a great job of diverting the wind blast around me and my passenger.

Do you have to remove the outer fairing to install these shields?

No you don"t have to remove the outer fairing to put on the windshield just loosen up the 3 bolts and slide it in. I"m 5'7" and i use a 6.5 klock werks and i absolutely love it i can have my music on less than half the volume and can here it real good at 70 and the buffeting is much much less than a harley windshield.i would think you might want to go to a little taller one cause of your height.

I'm thinking the 8.5" shield might be the way to go with a Klock Werks, but I may try the Wind Splitter first. I found a used one (only 10 miles on it) for a great price. The WS is 3 inches taller than the stock shield and that may be enough to do the job.
