Just made my last payment. I'm riding for me now. When I signed my name 4 years ago, I thought that it was going to be a long stretch to get it paid for. But it's done now. It's mine. The attached picture was as I bought it new and no upgrades.

Always a great feeling when you have it free and clear.

Congrats. There isn't any other feeling so good.

You will get a handful of people that love having debt and don't even have a plan to get out of it, or a plan to ever get back into it. Probably why you get so many posts about HD finance, buying, trading, new bikes every 2-4 years, and so on. Why, because of the classic cop out: "You only live once." AKA, "Be like me, I never planned ahead once in my live...so yeah, I'm now 60+ and don't have the time left in my body to think about saving now."

Then you have the cash only guys that know the bliss you are feeling right now after paying it off. I'll never go down that payment road again! There is a sense of power and control when you are no longer slave to the lender.

At the time I bought this bike, my beloved old 87 FLHTC had near 100,000 miles on her and was getting tired. I had plans on restoring it, at the cost of around $6000. Harley was offering 3.99% financing. I jumped on it. The dealer gave me $4500 for the old one. I would have never bought this one if they couldn't do that APR. But anyway, It's mine, and at my age, will probably be my last one, bar any unforseen situations.
