Default Question about '01 Electra Glide

Ok, I need some advice/opinions.

I have the opportunity to pick up a '01Electra Glide with 14,000 miles for $5500. Sounds cheap to me, What do y'all think?

Background:
I came into this opportunity through a friend of a friend sort of deal. I trust my friend wholeheartedly. The bike is owned by his brother's coworker.

I had plans to look for a used bagger in the future, but was planning to wait until next summer, when I am done building my house. but, if this deal is that great, I have to get it while it is available.

I know very little about the bike. I was told it has been garage kept and has 14K miles. I plan to go see it tomorrow, and if it is not in good shape I will not buy it. However, if it runs and drives well, How much do you think it should go for?

What should I be looking for?
tires/all rubber could be aged from sitting, lining in tank and fuel system gumed from old gas, any other ideas?

Sounds like you know what to look for.

pull the dipstick and look for signs of water or gas in the oil.

battery

service records?

rubber parts- fuel lines, petcock diaphragm

etc.

Not a bad deal (depending on condition) if it is a carb bike. I would stay away from MM fuel injection.

Am I off base thinking this is a pretty good price, assuming good condition, and assuming standard package (because I don't know trim level)?

good Info. Thanks.
any idea how hard it would be to convert to Carb if fuel injected?
I have a buddy who converted his 01 Road King, so I know it can be done.

depends on how handy you are.

I could do my own bike for a few hundred bucks...drop it off at a shop and pay full retail it could be $2000.

essentially you are looking at changing the tank bungs and adding a petcock, intake manifold, carb ( Keihin Cv is best), and module. cables. some hose...
the daytona twin tec module is the one my Pals have used.

THANKS, Guitar.
I'm fairly handy myself. I've done most (almost ALL) of the repairs to every vehicle I have owned since I started driving. I've not performed this sort of job before, but I'm certain I can handle it with a little direction from those in the know.
