Lower engine knock need help, Please
I have a 03 EG standard 22, 000 miles. Runs great but, I have noticed a knock coming out of the lower end of the engine area. I have used a long screw driver to try and locate noise. It seems to be louder where shifter shaft comes out of motor.

I would say you have a loose compensator nut. They sound like your bottom end is shot when they get loose. Real common on an 03.

Compensator nut was loose, red loctite and new torque specs from service bulletin No Knock.

Glad you got her fixed. Back in 03 that topic was all over the web. I don't know what the failure rate was but it was damn high.
