This is what I have been doing the last two years in my car. $4 a month paid 5 months in advance. The first time I called, the guy on the phone said he could not do that. I then told him I wanted to cancel. He transferred me to someone else who then gave me the deal. When I ask why the first guy couldn't do it, the women said you have to call customer retention directly or say you want to cancel and they will transfer you

Isn't that for one paticular radio? It's not for you personally.
If you trade cars or upgrade a radio then it doesn't transfer, the way I was told.

Let me know if I am wrong.

I should have mentioned that I'm presently not a XM subscriber.

Any suggestions on how to get a new subscription at a discounted rate?

Thanks

That is correct and Im a pissed off mo fo. I have it in the car, bike and home. The rep tells me about the lifetime one It was $499 for me, he tells me I can transfer it up to 5x, so I agreed and he asked me what radio I want the lifetime on, so I put it on the car. 2 months later I get all the paperwork and it states built in radios with xm from the factory are not transferrable.
I called and spoke with their management even told them about misrepresentation and they will not change it. Maybe when the other units are about to expire I will milk them for what I can get. Man what a bitter taste about satalite radio it leaves.

They have increased the price of their lifetime subscriptions as well.

I have 2 lifetime subscriptions that I bought many years ago. The first was $399.00, the second was 1/2 price at $199.00.

I bought a new truck back in November and thought I'd add lifetime to it even though you can't transfer off a factory radio any more. The rep I spoke too gave me a price of like $899.00 plus "music royalty" fee that brought it up to around $950.00.

I took the $77.00 a year plan.

I am way ahead on the other lifetime subscriptions. Have had them for at least 8-9 years now.

That's true - - it's for the radio/vehicle.

On the other hand, when I eventually sell the car, I can pimp the "it has free satellite forever" angle!

They will definitely improve the offer if you play hard-to-get. You can usually get a great price for a "special" 3-month term and you can usually get the same deal every 3 months.
