wobble after new rear tire?

I have a Metzeler 150/80/16 on the back of mine. It looks ridiculously to large for the rim. (was on the bike when I bought it) I was getting a wobble around 75-80 mph. I tightened up some of the spokes that made a thud sound when tapping with a screw driver. Also the air pressure was @ 38psi so I bumped it up to 42-44psi, and its much better now.

air pressure is fine
i have put about 2300 miles on the tires so far, so im use to the new tire
both tires are avons
it just feels wobbley, and unstable.. unlike before the tire change
i might pull it back off and throw the dunlop back on and see how it rides.. if it rides the same i can atleast rule out the tire

Pressure...try bumping it up to 44-45 psi 2 PSI at a time....You should be aroud 44-45...Mixing bias and radial or brands won't have any noticeable effects.. Is this on a smooth (no tar snakes or grooves) road? Some tires will track different than others. Different compounds=different road feeling...I am on my 9 or 10th tire now and they are seem to feel different...give it a little time...
