Default wobble after new rear tire?

so after installing a new avon rear tire i feel like the bike is floaty, kind of wobbly.

i went from a stock dunlop rear to a Avon Venom 150/80/16
it is alot wider than stock and maybe thats the issue?

any opinions?
anyone else had this issue?

I have a Metzeler 150/80/16 on the back of mine. It looks ridiculously to large for the rim. (was on the bike when I bought it) I was getting a wobble around 75-80 mph. I tightened up some of the spokes that made a thud sound when tapping with a screw driver. Also the air pressure was @ 38psi so I bumped it up to 42-44psi, and its much better now.

Sometimes with new tires they feel different for a while.
They are slick and have residues sometimes.
Check everything out, air, nuts, etc.
Is the front an Avon?...don't mix tires.
Probably needs scuffing in.

air pressure is fine
i have put about 2300 miles on the tires so far, so im use to the new tire
both tires are avons

it just feels wobbley, and unstable.. unlike before the tire change

i might pull it back off and throw the dunlop back on and see how it rides.. if it rides the same i can atleast rule out the tire

Default Tracking

Check your belt deflection, and rear tire adjustments. Otherwise, You got a bad set of tires. Tracking put those idiot fence builders from Orange County on T.V.

I am a great fan of Avons and love them. I have a 150/80 on the rear of my 1990 Glide and it is fine! However they use higher tyre pressures than stock tyres, so check their website here for your model. If you are heavy I suggest you add an extra couple of psi. Be aware that the highest pressure you can use Avons at is 50psi, so there is plenty of scope to raise pressures and overcome that feeling you currently have. With a non-standard size on the front you will have to make a judgement on the appropriate pressure there.

Front tyre:
Venom
Pressure front:
2.6 bar (38psi)
Front size:
MT90B16 74H (also WW)

Rear tyre:
Venom
Pressure rear:
3.0 bar (44psi)
Rear size:
140/90B16 77H (also WW)

Pressure...try bumping it up to 44-45 psi 2 PSI at a time....You should be aroud 44-45...Mixing bias and radial or brands won't have any noticeable effects.. Is this on a smooth (no tar snakes or grooves) road? Some tires will track different than others. Different compounds=different road feeling...I am on my 9 or 10th tire now and they are seem to feel different...give it a little time...

I had lots of trouble with Avons over the years. I know some guys like them. I don't.

You got a bad tire. I've been down this path... spend 6 months trouble shooting it, finally give up and throw on a new tire and the problem will disappear.

I'd bet a steak dinner on it.
