Default Harley announces huge recall 2009's-2012's

DETROIT – Harley-Davidson is recalling about 308,000 motorcycles to fix a switch problem that can cause failure of the brake lights and possibly even the rear brakes themselves.
The company says in government documents that brake light switches can be exposed to too much heat from the exhaust system. The brake lights can fail, and the problem also can cause fluid leaks and the loss of rear brakes.
The problem affects Touring, CVO Touring and Trike vehicles from the 2009 through 2012 model years.
Harley says it will notify owners of the recall. Dealers will install a rear brake light switch kit free of charge.
The recall affects about 251,000 motorcycles in the U.S. alone.

No stock exhaust on my '09 SG, but the switch failed right after I got back from Sturgis. Just about 28,000 miles on the clock. I replaced mine, but they just gave me the same part, so I gotta see if I can get reimbursed for it when I get the new one put on.

Funny thing is, one of the guys I was in Sturgis with had his switch fail on his '07 while we were up there.....but they're only recalling the '09+ bikes?

It figures, I show up at work today on a new bike (250 miles on it) and the first thing I hear is "hey did you know your bike has a recall?" O well thats how it goes, my 09 SG had one for the fuel tank mtg brkt as well.

Got mine fixed today. Wish they would have recalled the one on my '07 before it failed.

I replaced mine on a 09 TG this summer, got a switch from harley looks like the same one. Did they put some kind of a guard on it or just replace the switch?
