Oil cooler install-- Tips? Tricks? Hints?
Installing the H-D cooler on my 09 EG Classic ( with lowers).
Any tips tricks or hints that speed up, simplify or give better results than the H-D instruction sheet?
I know it is straight forward, but want to tap the "knowledge base" here.
thanks, Mike

If you don't have the 7/16" Hex Bit Socket either find one or get a 7/16" headed bolt and matching nuts and make your own Hex Bit to torque the filter adapter. Other than that, take your time and do it just as the instructions set out. Took me more time to clean the oil mess from removing the filter than it did to install the oil cooler.

there's a disc with a hole at the 9:00 position and a slot that runs from 2 to 5 o clock position.....if you put it in wrong....the cooler will never get hot...so check your bike by letting it run on its stand until you feel the oil filter very hot to touch....the cooler should feel warm....if it feels cold...the disc is probally in wrong.

Not familiar with the Jagg, but not sure how much better the HD cooler needs to be. Very happy with mine - about 6 weeks on my '07. Riding average 300 miles per weekend mixed. I think it looks good, was easy to install, and functions well. In South FL, it's frigging hot right now. Oil runs 240-246 on highway regardless of speed or heat and runs max 286 in stop/go <35mph, but usually closer to 260 - 280. About 20-30 degrees cooler than without. This is running Mobile 1; cheers, Kevin.

You can get the BSTRD size 7/16 hex at Advance Auto for about $7.00. Just buy a torx bit made on a 7/16 hex (T55 3/8 drive). It is in the special tools section and you can check fit to a wrench hanging next to it.The torx part sticks in far enough to engage the hex good and it and works perfect. Auto Zones T55 did not work. Sears has it in a kit for around $40.00 but I already had a torx set made on round shanks. This was pretty hard to find and I left my wallet at home or I would have bought the Sears kit.
