Default How long does it take to put an oil cooler on an Ultra?

Went to the dealer today to pick up a windshield bag and had been thinking about putting an oil cooler on my 09 Ultra. Out of curiosity, I asked the service guy how many hours were listed to install the oil cooler. I'm thinking maybe one. He said oh no, at least 2.5. At $72/hr would work out to be about $180 plus cooler (299) plus shop fees and taxes and .....

You guys who have had this done or who wrench for a living...is the service guy right or closer to one hour?

Thanks for your help

Thumbs up Oil cooler install

Took me about 2 hrs to install. For the costs just buy yourself a manual & do it yourself.Nothing to it.Takes longer if you have a chrome cover on over your regulator.

1 hr should do it. An 1 1/2 if you question the design of that stupid gasket that doesn't match the holes....

I am close to a complete idiot mechanically speaking. That said I was able to read some threads on here, study the directions and install this oil cooler on my Road Glide (with Lowers ON) in under three hours and that included breaking the voltage regulator studs(removing the chrome cover, which is in the trash), hammering them out and going to Ace to get 1/4X20 1 1/2inch bolts and locking nuts to replace the studs. I wouldn't pay for something I can muttle through with minimal aggravation. AND I had ZERO leaks when finished...priceless!

Depends on the cooler. I run the fan assisted Ultra Cool and it took me about 2-3 hours the first time I installed it.

I put the HD cooler in and at the same time installed the fan kit for the heat exchange. the hours folks are reporting is about right. and double emphasis on that large washer with the holes and poor illustrations. install it wrong and the cooler does not get oil.

Took me 2.5 hours to install the Jaggs 10 Row low mount horizontal oil cooler. It mounts no the voltage regulator mount. Anyone know what I need to do to have the chrome cover installed on the regulator. I don't have enough threads left on the bolts after installing the oil cooler. Can I install longer mounting bolts?
