Default Progressive 940 vs. stock SG short touring

Has anybody removed their stock touring shocks and replaced with 940's? I have a Road King and I'm looking at lowering an inch in the rear. The HD Low Profile units commonly found on the SG are less than half the price new. Thanks

I put the 12" HD ones on my Street Glide and love them.
I have since traded bikes and will ship them for a lot less than new ($250). My new bike has them standard.

I bought a set of "take off" SG 12" shocks for about $125 from a local rider on another forum ( the -09 version has "better" valving)

I have them on my 09 EG Classic when around town or within a few hundreds miles of home, they're pretty good, I like the look and they feel pretty good having lost an inch of travel- 10 pounds pressure works pretty good riding solo ( with tour pak and crap)

touring the stock shocks go back on in about 15 minutes.- i want the cushy ride for 10 hours in the saddle day after day.

changing shocks, relieve air pressure first, and store upright so the oil doesn't leak

I'm with dene on this, I thought the SG was already lowered. The 940's would raise the back end up a bit.

There is no "valving" in an air shock (HD OEM) , just 4 holes in a solid cylinder that a small that either sucks oil in through the 4 small orifice's to slow down the compression and in the rebound mode (lengthening) the oil is expelled through the same 4 small orifice's slowing down the extension stroke.

The reason why HD installs this type of suspension is because it is very cheap and spring preload can be set by the induced compressed air pushing down on a white cup. No air compression, no valving.

If you actually experienced great suspension you would never ride your bike in its present condition/equipment.
