And if you turn the handlebars when you lift it back up you will crush the lower end of the fender, the chrome lower fender trim is not that expensive, dont ask how I know,

ok...not trying to be a comedian...but I lost mine while backing up one day...it hit the engine guard and nothing else. Anyone else care to back this up? Keep in mind..I just lost my balance and it tipped ever so slowly. I have had the bags off plenty of times since and there is definately no damage anywhere...heck..there isn't even a mark on the engine guard...

A buddy of mine gently laid down his RK when he was making a slow speed turn on a grade and got his foot caught under the floorboard. He doesn't have saddlebag guard rails cuz he removed them. The bags did not touch the ground, therefore were not damaged. I know my SG sits a little lower than his RK so I'm not sure I would be so lucky if mine went down.

Thanks for the respectable answer. The situation you described is what I was looking for. I have done the same thing with my ultra and of course it rested on the engine guard and the bag rail. I'm considering a street glide and wanted to know how it would touch in an easy lay over situation.
