Default Is this a good deal for a Road King?

I'm trying to get a buddy of mine to get a Harley. He loves the Road King model and is looking at one in particular. It is a 2012 leftover(new) FLHR(I think) with added cruise control, ABS, security system and two-tone Red Sunglow/Merlot. Sounds like a beauty. He can get it for $18,600 which includes the $1200 for dealer prep/shipping/admin. fees. Is this a good deal? I mentioned some possible bargaining points like getting the first service for free, adding some extras like highway pegs, replacing the current blackwall tires with wide white walls. I just don't have anything to go off of to advise him on the price. I appreciate your responses.

Um, you have access to the internet, why don't you look at a few dealer websites and see what bikes are going for? Maybe I am crazy, but wouldn't that be better than random opinions from a forum?

If it was $15,500.00 and it didn't have more than .002 crankshaft runout it would be a great deal. I doubt they'd check that or be willing to let it go that low. If he could find a leftover cop bike he could get it for less than that.

Considering the cruise, ABS and security options it sounds like a decent deal. If he can get a couple extras thrown in all the better. Not great but not bad. Personally I would not have whitewalls on my bike but may just be me.

Looks like a pretty good price to me. I'd jump on it.

The $1200 dollars is what you want to play with. Go back and tell them that the Harley web site does not mention fees, set charges or what ever they include in the $1200. Have them knock off the 1200 and you'll take the bike. If they come down even $600, they still be making money and youll be saving money. Just a thought

PS, remind them that it is cold outside!

Wait till there is plenty of snow on the ground on a week day and then go in there to make a deal. Trust me they will all but give it to him. Also talk to a couple dealers and tell them what he wants and let them all work for your or his business.

Nope. The 13's have been on the floor for almost a half a year now. They're asking damn near brand new for a bike that banks will deem "used" in 5 days. I wouldn't pay a dime over 17,500 for it.

I first get a price set on something and i tell the dealer I dont want to talk monthly payment or tradein or anything put the actual price of the vehicle once I get a price set that I am happy with then when we go to do the paperwork and they try to add in that doc. fee I tell them I am not paying that the only extra I am paying is taxes and title fee. I have got up and walked out before but did not make it to my car before they were getting me back in there. I have not purchased a new Harley so I do not know how flexible they are but I have a hard time thinking that they will not budge on that a little bit.
