I don't buy in to the whole, " It's a push rod motor" My Yamaha Roadliner was an air cooled 1854 cc push rod motor and it was as quiet as any bike I have ever owned. I just think it's Harley's lack of R&D. I think they are scared of technology.

I am sure if Harley wanted to look, sound and resale like a Yamaha they could do it. With as many posts as you have on this HD forum, i am surprised you are trolling.

I think it's because the moco knows that many FLH owners are geezers and can't hear it thunder (or so my wife says).

So I doubt cams any more aggressive then 255s will be on the list of things to try..
stock 103" 's dont have 255 cams, they have the same cam as a 96" bike does.

you can get an adjustable pushrod kit with allows for better fitment of the push rods that the standard combination of push rods and shim kits allow.

Not trolling, just an observation. Don't say the noise is because of a push rod motor when obviously others have perfected it.

Scared of Technology? Are you on the right forum. The Harley is one of the top selling bikes in the US, what motivation is there to fix the valve train noise that all Harley riders seem to accept? How many riders do you know that didn't buy a Harley because of valve clatter? I don't think it is fear, I think it is priorities. As much as I don't like the top end noise, it didn't stop me from riding last weekend.

Putting thicker oil in to quiet the valve train is old school. If its somewhat noisy after putting the recomended weight oil then that's just the way that particular motor is going to sound. Vtwins are notoriously noisy, putting thicker oil in it is going to slow the flow of lubrication then its really gonna be noisy...to each his own?

It basically means to start crap on a forum. For some people if they don't like what you post then they think you are a troll.

Always interests me when people have to be critical of another poster's comment about the topic.
