I don't buy in to the whole, " It's a push rod motor" My Yamaha Roadliner was an air cooled 1854 cc push rod motor and it was as quiet as any bike I have ever owned. I just think it's Harley's lack of R&D. I think they are scared of technology.

I am sure if Harley wanted to look, sound and resale like a Yamaha they could do it. With as many posts as you have on this HD forum, i am surprised you are trolling.

Not trolling, just an observation. Don't say the noise is because of a push rod motor when obviously others have perfected it.

Scared of Technology? Are you on the right forum. The Harley is one of the top selling bikes in the US, what motivation is there to fix the valve train noise that all Harley riders seem to accept? How many riders do you know that didn't buy a Harley because of valve clatter? I don't think it is fear, I think it is priorities. As much as I don't like the top end noise, it didn't stop me from riding last weekend.
50w Dino oil. Keeps the sewing machine nice and quiet.
Putting thicker oil in to quiet the valve train is old school. If its somewhat noisy after putting the recomended weight oil then that's just the way that particular motor is going to sound. Vtwins are notoriously noisy, putting thicker oil in it is going to slow the flow of lubrication then its really gonna be noisy...to each his own?
