Curious if any of u 11-12 103 guys have ever cranked your bike and the starter acts as if the compression releases didn't open? Mine has done it twice so far, apparently the starter is not strong enough without acrs open.
No,but I have noticed it takes a little longer than any other bike I've had to start. It turns over a few times before starting. All the others would just fire right up. If you listen you can hear the CR's. If you don't,take it to the shop because something is wrong.
'11 SG with power pac with a couple 1000 miles on it now. Always keep it hooked up to a battery trickle charger and have not had any hard starting problems. if there is an issue with the automatic CR's , I can see that it would have problems turning over regardless of the charge of the battery.
If the CR's don't open, I don't think that the starter has the power to turn the engine over very well. One of the reasons to go to an automatic compression release is so they could go to a lighter starter. No ACR's should sound a lot like a weak starter, or a weak battery.
Yes, I know what you are saying. My 2010 Ultra would start the instint I hit the starter button, but I also got the bang of the comp. Not always, but most of the time. Bike ran great and no problems with it. After second surgery I had to make a dicission on no more heavy bike to handle at slow speeds or go the trike route. So a 2011 TriGlide is now my ride. The first thing I noticed was the bike turned over just a hair longer than the 2010 96ci did. I figure this is due to the CR working and all is well. Oh, and NO bang at start up either.

Exactly, its like the starter dead heads. One small crank and nothing.

ditto, usually on the first start up of the day, or on a cold start.
