I don't miss my Road King

So I have to admit that when I traded in my 03 RKC last week with close to 60,000 miles on it for a new 2011 Ultra Classic I thought I might have been jumping the gun at 43 years old...The day I picked it up my wife and I rode home 2 hours in the pouring rain so I really could not get a true feel for the new ride. I had to wait out last weekend for hurricane Irene but did ride a few days to work during the week.

Today we had the chance to get out and RIDE!!!! We took off this morning and rode up Rt50 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and got off in Vienna and took beautiful ride to Elliott Island winding through the Blackwater Refuge and to Hoopers Island. If any of you have the chance to ride around this area DO IT!!! Even though it is flat (as all the roads around here) these roads twist and turn for miles and miles and miles with beautiful scenery.

I have to say that this bike handles better than my 03 RKC. Not sure if it is the new frame, more power or a better seating position but I can toss this bike through the twists and turns with more ease than I could the RKC. I know some think it is top heavy but since we have taken so many trips 2 up with a full pack and roll bag on the sissy bar that is not an issue for me.

We had many great rides on the RKC but I am not looking back this new Ultra is it.http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...cons/icon6.gif

Dude, I'm with you. I came off of an '03 Ultra that I put 48k on. I just traded it in for an '11 Ultra. WOW, they made some serious improvments all around in the 8 years since I bought my first Ultra. Glad you're enjoying the new ride!!!

Nice bike! I just got the '12 EG Classic in black. I had a Road King prior as well. Just dropped mine of for 1K service.

Sweet ride. I've been thinking about trying out a new one but I'm afraid I will love it too much and have to buy it.

I just went in to look and get a idea of pricing...

43! I bought mine (Street Glide) for my 40th and I came from sport bikes. These bikes have a soul or something. Nice bike BTW.

Sweet ride. I went from a 95 ultra to an 09 and the difference was awesome. But when I bought my 12 limited, I knew this was the right choice. Good luck top you and the wife as you ridE

Traded my 02 RK with 46K on it for an 09 Ultra, never looked back, what a difference. The wife and I loved it so much we put 20K on it the first 12 months we owned it. Enjoy, they made some great improvements starting in 09.

I rented an '10 Ultra when I had my cams done. Handled better then my '05 RK. I was amazed.

Back in March I traded my '07 RK Custom for my '11 SG (usually with King Tour-Pak loaded up). I love them both. I think I just feel more comfortable leaning on the SG. Not sure if the ride is any different. The only regret is caused by the increased payments.

My 10 UC Limited is heads and shoulders above the ride quality of either my 2000 RK Classic or my 2004 UC. There is a lot of reasons why...the new stiffer frame, the new tires and tire widths, the new motor and mounting system, the new Brembo braking systems. I replaced the worthless rear air shocks with Ohlins a while back. That brought up the ride quality a few more notches. Enjoy your new bike.

Congrats on the new ride - definitely a huge improvement w/the newer frame + engineering/design. Many miles of smiles to you & your wife!
