Default 2006 Fuel filter change (EFI) Questions???

The one thing on my maintenance schedule that I did not do is a fuel filter change. I bought a filter kit, but I know there will be other parts I need to complete the job.

What else do I need (gaskets, other things, and bolt wise) to do this. - part #'s with the list would be awesome.

Also, the SM states that the tank needs to be drained, but I have read that it can be done with out draining. I have the Quick detach fitting on my cross over, so it's not a big deal, but if I don't have to drain, it will save me time.

Thanks

I have done a couple filters in the past on bikes a little bit older than ours and didn't drain the tanks. That being said, I didn't do it with FULL tanks either. Good luck.

You can take out without draining fuel, just wrap your tank and get any gas off once it's out. If you haven't taken one out it's a little tricky, you have to use a screwdriver and push down on the fuel pump which is on the bottom to straighten the whole unit up as you turn and pull it out. There are post on this but I couldn't visulize it so I attached some pics. The tech's advise to replace the fuel line also ($70)? which would require the fuel to be drained. The older ones were prone to get pin holes in them which effects performance if your not getting the proper fuel pressure. I think they can test for that.
