I would like to install a Hydraulic Clutch on my '11 Limited. Is that possible (I guess anything is possible) and what kind of cost am I looking at? I have arthritis in my hand and pulling the clutch in hurts until I ride awhile.
I've got an hydraulic clutch on my Road glide and I think its harder to pull in than alot of cable clutches I've tried. The hydraulic clutch that was on my gold wing was much easier to use than the 1 on this Harley is. Its hard to keep it pulled in sitting at lights. You might try 1 at demo days before deciding. The demo days around here have the 2012 CVO Road Glide to test ride. Hope it works out for you.
Try some teflon dry lube spray or one of these cables first. Barnett cables are smooth working, long lasting and are made with the finest components available, making them virtually indestructible Stainless steel cables with clear coating offer that custom look without the fear of damaging areas that the cables come in contact with Easy-pull high-efficiency design reduces lever effort by up to 40% Made in the U.S.A.http://www.barnettcables.com/service...aspx?faq_id=22 http://www.barnettcables.com/service...aspx?faq_id=22
I did it on my 08 Ultra. But I did it for looks as much as anything just like the symmetrical look of a master cylinder on both sides.
Not really much if any difference in the pull as i recall.
Back when I did the same change on my 02 HD offered a kit they don't do that anymore.
You can just order from the CVO parts book if you want to change to a chrome master cylinder. If you want to keep it black the V-Rod master cylinder will work.
Do a search here you will probably find more current info than I have.
I have one on my '07. The pull is 10-15% easier than a well lubed cable, but the engagement is 100% smoother. The big plus for hydraulic clutches is the reduction in maintenance. No more lubing or adjusting cables, & no more adjusting clutches. As vzts4q (?) said, the CVO bikes come standard with hydraulic & their chrome parts will work on yours. Vrod hydraulic clutch master cylinders are black if you don't want chrome. No need to wait for a demo, just go to your local dealer & try the pull on one on the sales floor.
