Any drawbacks to Gear driven cams?

The best cranks, ( hot forged with the Timken Lefty Bearing, ) 99 - 02
Cold forged cranks but they took the Lefty Bearing out, ( still decent but check your run out,) 03 - 06
Press fit cast crank, ( horrible,) 07 to present. Would never install gear drive here regardless of run out

Thanks for the replies guys. I see the error of my thought process. I was looking at the J&P catalog and see that the cam goes for $320. I seem to have overlooked the fact that it requires the S&S gears. Sounds like it still might be the way to go if the run out on the crank is OK, but it isn't as cheap as I thought.
With any work done, the pump is a must.
Why would you go in the cam area and not upgrade the oil pump?

I have two Harleys in the garage; both with built motors. Run gear drives on the '05; crank runout was .0025", lash checked out with standard inner/outer gears and the motor makes less noise than the old chain drives.
I passed on gears for the '02 and went with the conversion to the '07 OEM hydraulic tensioner/roller chain setup. So much easier to work with, no cam bearings or gears to press on, no lash to check, no OS or US gears to buy and the hydraulic system came with a new and upgraded oil pump. The oil pump alone was worth the upgrade.
The oil pump has been upgraded again for even more flow and scavenging. Either the SE Hybrid conversion and billet cam plate that allows the use of the early cams or converting to the complete OEM system with the standard cam plate will get you the upgraded oil pump and hydraulic tensioner.
You can go to the Andrews website and get the parts list; all H-D OEM parts. The last one I set up ran $370 from Zanotti's but the PNs and the price have changed since then. I woudln't run gears again unless I was building a drag bike. No extra power from gear drives.
