Default 160/60/18 or 150 /70/18 rear?

i finally decided to order a matching rear wheel for the SG, i ordered an 18 x 4.25

im wondering should i go with the 150/70/18 or a 160/60/18 rear tire?

does the 150/70 add any height over the stock tire dimensions?
currently im running an avon 150/80/16 on the bike, and dont want to add any height to it.

plus i think the lower profile of the 160 will look a little nicer

suggestions anyone.. and any one have any pics of either setup 160/60 or 150/70?

also what tires are you guys running in those sizes, what fits , what doesnt? any modifications to the belt guard?

Avon give useful dimensions on their website here. Their tyres that fit Harleys are Venom, Cobra and Storm. The only tyre I can see in their range likely to fit is their 160/60ZR18, which is similar in rolling diameter to an MT.

If you are considering other brands, check out their websites.

I have a Deuce rear wheel which I plan fitting to my Glide, using a 160/70 Storm. I reckon it should fit with a squeeze!

Personally I want to use tyres with a suitable load rating for our heavy bikes. Looks like you and your preferred passenger are lightweights, but those of us not so svelte (Mrs B and I!) like the idea of a 79 over a stock 74. That 160/60 is only a 70.

I'm running the 150/70/18 on my 4.25" rim. I've never tried the 160/60. I can tell you the Metz 150/70 fit with no issues. When I switched to the Avon Venom 150/70 it hit the belt guard. I honestly can't tell the difference in ride or handling between the Metz 880 and the Avon Venom. I get the same mileage out of either brand. I run pressure at 46 rear and 42 front. I'll go up two pounds when I'm loaded if I think about it.

Yes, I get every last mile out of a tire.

We have had a lot of customers complain about a speed wobble with the 160/60-18 which is why we recommend the 150/70-18.

I'm running a Metz ME880 radial 160/60-18 on the Night Train. No wobble at all.

To directly address your question, the 150/70 or the 160/60 will not add any hieght since your changing from a 150/80.
