Rear Brake light switch, melt down/ almost on fire WTF

OK, Fast question. Today on my 2009 Ultra I was out riding, stopped at light the the rear brake switch almost went on fire, smoking like hell and melted down the wires and connecters. What the hell happen ??? Is this normal... LOL, taking it in to the dealership in the AM, hoping it's an easy fix, got a trip down to the Keys on Sunday.

Thanks for all replies Be Safe JIM

It should have blown a fuse before it got that bad, a small spark on a short should have blown it, id make sure its the right fuse in there.

It's not a wiring or high current problem that causes the problem. It's the excess heat from the exhaust header causing spontaneous combustion of the wire insulation and or brake switch components.
