Need help !! Ultra was running fine..suddenly wont start..checked spark on plugs, all fuses fine, will start with starter fluid in air filter,(only until fluid gone)..any ideas b4 taking to stealership?

year?

2.) cranking with plugs pulled can blow the ignition system unless the plugs are ground to the motor- hope you did that

Sounds like it's not getting fuel...Check fuel pump.

steelerdude1 10-20-2011 10:38 PM

As you determined, its a fuel issue, I would start with checking/changing fuel filter and check or change the hoses inside the tank. Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the key?

speakerfritz 10-20-2011 11:32 PM

ditto on checking the fuel right at the tank connection

If the battery does not have enough charge the motor will crank but not start with EFI models. I forget the full technical reason but it is related to needing enough charge to operate the various sensors required to make it run properly - and probably to prevent damage? It is reasonably common that there is enough charge to crank it and it all sounds OK ... but it ain't. Suggest check and/or re-charge or replace your battery and try again.

See if the line that runs from the quick disconnect is pressurized with fuel. The quick disconnect went bad on my '07 and had to be replaced.

great advice eveyone ..and yes i CAN hear the fuel pump operating as i hit the run button..everything seems normal...would anyproblem with the security system cause this?...

Same issue on my my o7 UC.Dealer replaced the filter and fuel line that is inside the tank. The line had a split in it and would not allow fuel pressure to get right to fire the injectors. $400.00 later all is good. It had probably been eroding for a while and it neede a new filter anyway. I was suprised at how much better it ran after the repair. good luck.
