Top end noise, rocker arm shims? FM107
My 08 Roadglide has had a noisy top end since I did the 103 build two years ago. I will be taking the motor apart next week to change cams and put in the FuelMoto 107 kit.
Since I will have it apart anyway I want to shim the rockers, I believe this is where my noise is comming from. When I built it two years ago I measured the play in the rocker shafts and they were in tolerence according to the service manual, but on the loose side. I want to tighten them up.
A while back someone posted about some shovelhead shims that work perfectly for the rocker arms but I can't find the post.
Does anyone know where to get the shims, part number, or any other info?
Thanks, I hate noisy top ends!!!

Not sure exactly what your talking about shimming, There are bronze bushings on the inside that ride on the rocker shaft. but replacing them would be more costly than purchasing a good used set.
Why not just use a set of adjustable push rods? They will take up any loose slack that may be causing valve train noise from to much play.

I googled rocker shaft shim and got this
http://www.retrocycle.com/CustomChro...d_Engines.html
not saying this is it...but it might get you closer......would be interested in the part when you find it...doing a build soon and will probally need some shimms.
