They are insurance. They are stacked against you. There will always be the stories about how they saved someones bacon. But I think you would be really surprised if you saw the profits from them.

In these tough times, it seems some dealers are going out of their way to screw customers.
I just passed on the extended warranty option fearing my reaction to "that's not covered" or some other kind of sham like the the OP is experiencing.
Still love my bike if not all of the Harley corporation/dealer network based on what I read here. Sheesh!

It's good news you are getting some money back, and as long as it's properly pro-rated, that's great. I have been on the fence as far as an extended warranty, I didn't get one. My warranty runs out this March. Never used the standard 2-year warranty once. The fact the warranty is running out makes it real easy to head down to Fuel Moto next summer for a 107
