I figured out what tools were specific to my bike that I might need on the road. I then went to the pawn shop and bought name brand tools for about .30 on the dollar. I made a roll bag out of glove leather to hold the tools. I also carry a flashlight, wire ties, oil filter wrench, electric tape, and a spare set of plugs.
Research some of the sites that specify HD tool kits and then make your own! Windzone, cruztools, HD, all have good tool kits. I wrote down all of the parts listed and then went out into my garage and dug through all of my spare tools and came up with 95% of the stuff mentioned. I've been collecting tools for years and decided while the winter season was upon us that I would just put one together and have it ready for the riding season. More than likely you can put one together much cheaper than those offered elsewhere. If you need new stuff, you could not pick a better time of the year to go shopping as most places are running the X-mas sales. Remember itâs better to have and not want than to want and not have. Just watch the weight..Or you could put one on your Christmas list and give that to your significant other..Good luck..
I bought the WindZone kit mentioned the above post from that ebay seller and have been very pleased with it. I believe the mfr's list price is $85 or so; Eastern Performance Cycles, the ebay seller, offers a great discount.
I got the harley davidson tool kit with the cool drive that hold torxs and philps and flat and added 1/4 wratchet and few scokets. alligator clamps a bit of wire and plugs.
Here is my experience with tools and such. What ever you take wrap it in soft cloth really well or it will either brake or scratch the hell out of everything. And dont take a Harley air gauge with the needle indicator or it will break also.
This is not a whole kit, but I found this set on Ebay. A combo torx and allen head set.
It is very heavy duty and well made. It's also made by the seller. I got a nice tool roll from him also. Slocobill
I was very impressed with the quality of this set, and the tool roll also.
