Which way are your's hanging?

I like to ride with my saddlebag quick release straps hanging outside the guard rails most of the time. Seems a little quicker to get them open that way.

But then I think if I did happen to go into a slide, the straps would defeat the purpose of the rails and cause more damage than if they were inside.

Which way do you guys leave your's hanging?

Low and to the left

Inside, looks cleaner. A related side note. While on a ride earlier this summer I developed a significant metalic rattling sound. Got home, checked everything out, fastners etc, couldn't find anything. Next couple of weeks the sound was intermitant and was driving me crazy. What I eventually found was that the strap leather must have, over time, stretched just enough so that the left front buckle was just slightly and occasionally rattling on the chrome bag guards. When it happens, its loud sometimes. I'm going to experiment with some little self addhesive furniture pads or something this winter.

Left bag inside. Right bag, sometimes in and sometimes out.

As far as the buckle goes, my forward buckles seem to lie right on the bag guards when tucked inside and can rattle at times, no adjustment helps.

Also, not everyone is going to understand what this thread is all about.

Ask yourself, how much quicker? Then ask yourself, do those few seconds really make a difference? If the answer is yes, you probably need professional help ......:icon_tongue:

I guess this is like the "Do you ride with your bags locked?" threads for us with hard bags.

You have a catchier title though. If I had bags like you're, I'd be tucking the straps in. I'm OCD like that.
