Progressive 440's
I am wondering if anyone installed a set of the 440's? I want to lower the bike but do not want an air system. I was looking for a set of 440's in the 11.5 legnth. Does anyone have this setup and is there any bottoming out?

RE: Progressive 440's
I have that exact setup and love it! I lowered the forks with the HD lowering kit (1 inch lower) and then installed the 11.5 progressives myself. It was a very easy install;took all of one hour to do both shocks-and that is going very slow. I have NEVER bottomed the fender out onto the tire. It just can't happen with the 440's, the shock will bottom out before the tire can hit the fender. Now, the 440 WILL bottom out if you hit something hard enough, but no more than the HD low profile shocks would bottom out on ocassion. I needed to lower my bike because I am a shorter rider and I love this mod. I ride two up often and the progressives give a nice ride. Me and my girlfreind have ridden to Nevada multiple times (including Laughlin River Run) and Arizona together and the ride is the same if not better as the HD low profile shocks that came standard on my bike. Just remember the 440's are adjustable and the trick is to adjust them properly for your weight. If you don't adjust them correctly they will feel aweful. It took me a few hours of riding on them to figure this out. Also, if you will be riding two up and/or you are a heaveier person, they make them with heavy duty springs also. I have just the standard springs on mine.

RE: Progressive 440's
Sorry to hijack the thread, but what solo seat is that on your bike, Matt?
Thanks. CN |
RE: Progressive 440's
That's a Mustang solo. I also have the matching passenger pillion. You can see it in my gallery. Very comfortable seat.

ORIGINAL: gibbyflhx I am wondering if anyone installed a set of the 440's? I want to lower the bike but do not want an air system. I was looking for a set of 440's in the 11.5 legnth. Does anyone have this setup and is there any bottoming out? The height difference is too small to notice anyway & the 12" shocks ride A LOT better than the 11.5"(I have experience with both). If you call Progressive's tech help they will tell you the same thing. ~John |

RE: Progressive 440's
I currently have a street glide which has the 12in shocks factory. I just want to drop it down a hair in the front and rear. I looked into some of the air systems and do not want to go that route.

gibby,
Are you dropping it for looks or for better foot plant? |
RE: Progressive 440's
I've got the 11.5 440's and love em. Nice and low.
