RoadGlide handle bars {Wild1's}

Changed my EG to a RG last spring - Installed Wild1's #517 road for awhile then put on #513's and kept them on from July until Now - just installed the #517's and will run them for a few months....

At first I liked the 517's but could not get used to the wrist angle - just different.. I have ran the 513's on my Fatboy and Wide glide... I really liked these and they worked fine, however - I am short {5'6"} and I had to reach just a little - still two hour stretch my back was not bad... Before I reshaped my Corbin {$$$$} I want to truly give the 517's a good work out... Put them on yesterday and went for a short ride.. Still a different "Feel" but ya know - its nice... So, I will run these until Spring and let you folks know my thoughts... I think my may problem is just getting used to the different hand position... I have a good friend "6'" who has had the 517's on his RG for a few years and you could NOT talk him out of those bars, he loves them..

#note - the 513's are very close to the stock RG bars - just bigger around "chubby" and a little more pull back -

I've been using 517s for five years on my Night Glide, and would not give them up either.

The Wild 1s brings up a question. I ordered Wild 1 517s for my Road Glide, but haven't given much thought to the wiring. The Wild 1's web site doesn't mention the wiring other than the stock cabling will reach. What are my options? Can I attach the wires externally like Harley does, or do I need to do them internal? It looks like internal would be cleaner. Any tricks to running the wires internally?

Run them internally, you won't regret it. It's a pretty simple job. Just make sure you make a diagram of the wires before you take them out of the connector. On all the ones I have done, I have been able to just pusht he wires through the bars. I have not needed any kind of a fish tape/coat hanger rig. Having a buddy there to snag the wires as they come to the center helps.

You shouldn't need to extend your wiring for these bars.

Thanks Biggzed, that's what I'll do. I was just curious if the stock option was there with the Wild 1s.

I don't mean to sound like you can't run the wires externally. You certainly can. In fact my dad has a set of Chubby bagger bars on his SG. He has added cruise and heated grips, and the fit was really tight. What we did on his is drilled the bars to accept a wire clip like they use on the Fatboy. It works just as good, just doesn't look as clean IMO.
