I like when the fans continue to run. On very hot days while I'm filling the gas tank the fans cool the engine enough that the bike cranks easier after the fill up. I also enjoy hearing them cycle on and off, can't explain why, maybe it's because I know they are doing so much good for the engine.
I believe I was no.1 on the original list and FCS Install.I live in El Paso, Tx where average temps during the summer reach 100,Jason helped me with my heat issues before he even had his product ready for sell.I made numerous mods in order to get my twin cam to run cooler because of his advice along with hid first generation FCS and have nothing but praise for his product and assistance. So i've been running his FCS for a year now and highly recommend it to anyone .
The long-term life of the fans will be increased if they don't get baked by the motor after shut-down. The fans need to RUN for about 5 min after the motor shuts down to cool themselves while the heads cool down. Otherwise a sudden shut-down of the fans when the heads are at full temp will "bake" the fans unnecessarily - a few minutes of run time will help preserve the fans in the long run. They are electrical components after all. Heat is their worst enemy.
The thermal switch takes care of this problem - lets the fans run for a few minutes after shutdown. Remember these fans not only cool the heads when they run, they cool themselves also.
Excellent point, now I remember why I like hearing them cycle on and off.

Do you have data to back up that statement of fans will bake or how much life is increased? That is just a statement or assumption at this point even if it makes common sense. If the fans are working bike is not screaming hot when shut down. Example your head temp is 235 when you shut down bike is it that un reasonable temp for the fans?. I have watched the temps bike cools off fairly quickly when shut down. I am sure you gain a few minutes with fans running after motor is shut down.
How about this from a safety factor fans running while getting gas, gas spills electric from fans ignites gas Any data on that?. No there is not but that's common sense to.

I've had my system on for a short time and it does have the thermal switch. I hadn't thought about that scenario, but it is a good point. I think I will reach down and hit the manual switch to turn them off from now on when I am refueling. I have been known to run it over occasionally trying to top off the tank.

Hey that's pretty smart! Guess some folks can't think that deeply.
We had one of Jasons fans and it is junk. It seems like the customers writing nice things are fake customers. Take my advice and talk to someone who actually used one and see what they have to say. I responded to one of the people and Jason got in contact with me to sell me a fan. Found out he is still in the Military and doing this as a sideline with no engineering experience.
