Default Missing part on Passenger Backrest

I have a 09 RKC and on my passenger back rest the release button is no where to be found. Has this happened to anyone? Can I fix it? I would hate to have to replace the entire back rest. The parts book I had access to seemed to indicate that the part isn't sold separately. Any help would be apreciated.

You could probably just buy the latch mechanism at a dealer and replace it. The other side is fine?

Perhaps if you are on good terms with the service department, they will give you a stock latch from a bike that someone put the crappy locking latch on.

I would just get the locking set and replace it!
