Why doesn't the manual tell you to prime (FILL) the oil filter?
I have always primed (filled) the oil filter when doing an oil change. But the 09 and up service manuals don't tell you do do this. Is there a reason why the newer twin cams don't need it? Any thoughts?
I would think you would spill most of it before u got it on. and when u drain your oil there is still some in the sump during startup I wouldn't be worried about it. at least I don't.
I take off the plug wires crank the motor till the oil light goes off,the reconnect them start it up,guess that fills the filter before start up.dont know if it makes a diffence but something i awlays done
Same reason no other motor needs it. There's enough oil residue to safely start the motor & build pressure when the filter fills normally, if you're mature enough to let it idle for a few seconds.

I don't want to steal the thread, but i've read some where that taking the plug wires off, you stand a very good chance of smok'in your coil. And if it is true, maybe save somebody from really damaging their coil because of over maintenance !
As far as not filling your oil filter because it could damage your motor is so dam nit-picky and extremely **** it's amazing those members can sh*t once a week !
