Default Why doesn't the manual tell you to prime (FILL) the oil filter?

I have always primed (filled) the oil filter when doing an oil change. But the 09 and up service manuals don't tell you do do this. Is there a reason why the newer twin cams don't need it? Any thoughts?

It makes a big enough mess taking it off, why do that in reverse?

I would think you would spill most of it before u got it on. and when u drain your oil there is still some in the sump during startup I wouldn't be worried about it. at least I don't.

Used to in the vertical mounted oil filters- not any more.

start it, get oil pressure up before putting the motor under load

If you change your oil on the kick stand, when you prime the filter like you should, it wont spill....don't over fill.

Same reason no other motor needs it. There's enough oil residue to safely start the motor & build pressure when the filter fills normally, if you're mature enough to let it idle for a few seconds.

I don't want to steal the thread, but i've read some where that taking the plug wires off, you stand a very good chance of smok'in your coil. And if it is true, maybe save somebody from really damaging their coil because of over maintenance !
As far as not filling your oil filter because it could damage your motor is so dam nit-picky and extremely **** it's amazing those members can sh*t once a week !

I know I'm out of my community, but my '12 Iron manual still has instructions for filling the filter when changing...
