2 into 1 exhaust

thinking of replacing my factory head pipes with fullsac conversion and rinehart slip ons. i am thinking of doing a 2 into 1 system. would like to get some info from others who have done this.which is best system? get newer head pipes and add slip on muffler?buy a complete 2 into 1 system? want to figure this out before installing SE heavy breather and having bike dyno tuned. thanks for any info.

while my bagger has stock no cat headers with supertrapp slip ons ( it's a stage 1- air cleaner , mufflers and xieds).

My 88 FXRP has a hi comp motor, cam and ignition.

It is a lightweight bike ( under 400 pounds and turns just about 75 HP)- I have a supertrapp 2/1 on this bike- the 2/1 enhances torque.
This has allowed my to change the rear pulley to a 61T which is a 15% overdrive- the motor has the torque where is doesn't bog off the line--- and the legs are long on this bike.

The advantage to supertrapp is that the muffler is tunable with a disc system- if your motor build changes, the pipe can be tuned to best match the motor, or to enhance torque or horsepower

I've had the 2/1 on there since 1990, very happy with it.

IMHO, a near stock bagger will do just fine with stock headers and performance mufflers ( again, I like the supertrapp 4" supermegs or the made for screaming eagle nightstick or fatshots which are very similar)--
for a stage 1 bike there will be slight torque improvements with a 2/1 system, but not the bang for buck you might be looking for

Can't go wrong with D&D or Dragula.

Best looking 2-1's on the market, not sure which of the two preforms better though

My builder tried a number of 2:1 combos on my 117" but the D&D produced the most "under the curve" TQ which is what I was after. I had talked with D&D a few times before the build about which pipe would be best and appreciated their help. The only thing that I did not like AT ALL, was the muffler dragging on rh turns.... really annoying... other than that, it was a great system for my build.

2:1 pipes

I have the reinhart 2:1 shortys on my FB with leather bags. Engine is stock and bike runs great & I like the sound. Nice low rumble. After installing a PC V it ran better.
I did fabricate a tail cover to deflect the exhaust down to get the heat away from the bag.

I woul reccommend the Jackpot 2-1-2 pipes, excellent quality, look good and performance comparable with a 2-1 system.
