Default Your thoughs on Saddlebag Guards

I keep going back and forth on whether to install Saddlebar Guards on my Ultra Limited. I really loved the guards that were on my Road King Classic as they looked pretty stylish to me. The guards for the hard saddlebags don't look that great to me. I guess it comes down to the difference between functionality and looks.

Anyone actually have the guards and it saved your hard bags from something? I know anything can happen, but to me the guards for the Limited are pretty damn ugly.

I went from a SG to an EG. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the guards but the more I looked at them the more I like them. Now I'm hooked.

Without the guards on my ultra - I'd have a couple nasty looking hard bags. She's been down a couple times and the guards did their job.

I WISH they would fit a Street Glide. I love the look of the rails.....

I'm shallow, so I'm all about looks and not funtionality. I don't like the looks of saddlebag guards personally, which is why I like the SG. However, I have seen a couple 14 limiteds with those side guards and they look as bad (or good) as they do on the pre 2014 Ultras. So I say go for it.

Yes and no.

I've been on the fence, but I may get some and dip them.

I've had the misfortune of having my 2013 RK fall over on its side 2 times now, both due to my lack of attention.Without the guards I installed,my hard bags definately would need repaired. It's a lot easier to say I'm glad I did instead of I wish I would have.

My personal opinion, the bike looks better without them.

BUT, having said that, if I can find a good used set, I'm gonna put them on my 12 Limited for the protection.

Doing more cone work for one thing, and also, not sure how it happened, but someone scraped the heck out of my Right Saddlebag a couple weeks ago. Not sure if it was somebody's car door, or a bike I was parked next to, but it wouldn't have happened with the rails.

Default Guards

At first I did not like them and I tried to take them off but I needed an other brace to hold up the bags so a day later we had drove a long distance without stopping and when we did I did not realize that my left leg was a sleep and yes over we went nice and slow we both lay on the pavement we picked the bike and no damage just a little scratch on the engine guards so mine are staying on looks or not. Installed them on my SG bacause I missed them from my EG. Like having them to help protect my wife and kids when i take them for a ride and like having the additional Bags attached to them to store stuff in without having to open my saddlebags.
