Default Slow speed front-end wobble?

I have a bone stock 2011 FLHTC... I've noticed this problem on my previous scoots (Honda VTX's) but it's a LOT worse on the Harley...

While attempting any slow speed turns, like U-turns, or turning the bike around for a parking space, etc... the front end on this bike wobbles... something FIERCE ... not even "full-lock" turns, 'parade' speeds are also really unstable... trying to turn at slow speeds is nearly impossible... the bars wobble and have tons of play in them... they feel loose. I'm not using the front brake (DUH), proper clutch feathering, rear brake, etc... during these maneuvers.

I don't have a problem at speed, but slow? Forget it... even some normal right/left turns aren't the most stable turns I've ever taken, the bars/steering just seem loose.

On the Hondas, the problem was whimpy fork bearings, so a fairly easy fix... Does anyone else have this problem or should I drop by the stealer?

Thanks!!!

These bikes are known for their great low speed handling. I would say you have a problem.

I agree with Hover, Harley bikes are great compared to the Beemers I've owned for slow speed maneuvers. The typical problem on a BMW is under inflated front tire which causes them to "cup". That's an easy check you can do yourself otherwise I'd take it in for a checkup.

You might feel a slight wobble in those tight turns if the front tire is cupped. If it's something more serious than that I'd start with the steering head bearing.

Thanks for the advice everyone... tire pressure and condition are just fine... no cupping, yet. This is not a normal wobble, much more severe, so into the shop she goes...

Dealer said the head bearing needed greasing... everything else seemed to check out.. I tried a couple turns in the lot, and it seems a bit better... maybe changing the fork oil next time will really cure it.

@Hover: What is this test that you mention?
