Default Upgrade to Harbor Freight jack

Before I even start, I know, $20k bike on $60 jack...blah blah blah. I got the jack from the previous owner with the bike when I bought it, so I'm using it. Otherwise I would have likely looked into a J&S etc. It was a pain to use because of the rail length being so close to the frame width, had to be real careful.
See pics for my upgrade. The 1st pic has the original 12" rails sitting on top of the new upgraded ones. The 2nd pic is the completed upgrade, 3" channel iron 14" long with 1/8" self-adhesive hard rubber pad on top. With the extra couple of inches I can just roll it under and lift with no worries. I use it to lift the bike to 14" high and set it on my self built maintenance/storage stand (3rd pic). The idea for the stand came from others here but is mostly my version of a product I learned about here on the forum from: http://pepsx.com/

No, I've looked at the Sears jacks and its not one of those. The Sears jacks look better. There was a thread last week by someone who had one that looked like mine that was purchased from an auto parts store.

That was me. I bought that same jack at Pep Boys about 10 years ago. After several years of it sitting in my shed, I am now using it for the cam project on my Road King. It would be nice if it was sized just a little differently but it seems to be working for me.

"Team Mechanix" jack...had one here recently...absolutely hated the damn thing and yeah the rail length was one of the reasons.

That's not what Harbor Freight sells around here. Theirs is branded "Central Hydraulics" and is noticeably better than the Team Mechanix one. HF jack has a foot release. TM one has the ol' twist-release that is, well, no fun. Other diffs, too...

good idea for the improvement, tho. Most of what I just posted was useless! ha!

Thats a TORIN Big Red jack. Had one and hated it for the same reasons described. Also, the jack always bled down, and was just general junk across the board.
