Default Thundermax and HD Speedo Tach (70900071) issue

I just had a Thundermax with Auto tune installed with some V&H True Duals and stage 1 A/C. The dealer called and said the bike was done. When I went to pick up the bike they said there was and issue.

The speedo Tach displays V in Err and you can not get to any of the other screens.

The Dealer said tehy spend time on the phone with Thundermax and were told it is a firmware error and they hoped to have a new release by the end of next week.

I did a lot of research before I bought and never came across this issue. I can't believe I am the only one to have this problem.

I hope the Firmware fix comes out soon I can not see mileage or trip distance or distance to empty.

If they do not have a firmware fix soon I am not sure what my options will be.

I was very much looking fw to getting out on the bike and riding this weekend but know I am wondering what other issues there maybe in the Firmware

Load the software on your laptop and look at the instructions for your T-max. You may be able to do a firmware update now and see if that clears up the issue. The manual is on the disk.

I was able to get out on the bike yesterday and I have to say with the Thundermax on it seems like a different bike. It pulls harder, there is no throttle lag, no decel pop, and the bikes starts quicker.

Hopefully they get the new firmware out by the end of the week. If not I may go back to the stock speedo until they figure out the issue.

I am going to put at least 1000 miles on it before I tweak and of the setting in the Thundermax

I just installed Drago's true duals, hypercharger and TMax and have the same issue. Ridabilty is not effected, but I did buy that speedo for those features. It is a different bike and it is a shame of the tight restrictions that keep them from coming off the showroom in that condition. The same problem with my Duramax, all that free horse choked up by restrictions.

Did you get your issue fixed? Were you getting the V in Error?

If not make sure the FW is the latest and greatest.

After installing the FW you need to do the following:

1. Pull ECM fuse

2. Disconnect Battery Negative.

3. Leave battery disconnected for at least 30 Sec

4. Connect Battery Negative

5. replace fuse

6. Do module initialization procedure per your instructions on the web:

For Throttle-by-Wire applications such as '08-'12 Touring models, the
initialization procedure is:
1. With RUN switch in RUN position, cycle the IGNITION switch ON for 20 seconds, uninterrupted.
2. Cycle the ignition switch OFF for 5 seconds and back ON, then start the engine.
3. Let the motorcycle idle for 15 seconds and shut off, then restart the engine and let it warm up to operating temp.

7. Check if RLo lights up if not run procedure from web

This is what Zippers had me do and it fixed my V in Error

Your gear indicators may not work on the Tach and for that you may have to contact Randy

The biggest downfall of Zippers Products is they're Customer Support it's the worst. They're products for the most part are'nt bad but if you have any issues it can be a wild and frustrating ride.
