Michelin Commander II vs. Dunlop D407/8

The time is getting very close for me to purchase new tires for the Dresser. I currently have the Dunlops on the bike and have been pretty much satisfied with them, with the exception of the replacement cost. I can find the Michelin's on sale for a lot less.

Michelin makes some serious claims regarding their new tires.

Has anybody switched to them?

What is your impression of the tire?

I don't expect any mileage reports yet, because they're new to the market, but Michelin claims double the mileage over the Dunlops.

Here is a link to the Michelins.

Thanks and ride safe,

Bob.

After about 500 miles I will say it is a harder tire. I feel more bumps but it has lived up to the rain claims. It tracked very well in the wet stuff so far. Time will tell as far as milage.

I have them , and I think they ride better, and handle very well in the wet.

Yes I like the way they handle the road. Do you notice that they feel harder?

AmericanMotoTire has Michelin Commander 2s for $288.13 for the pair, Metzeler 880s for $296.52, Dunlop Am Elites for $316.03, & Avon Cobras for $318.57. They beat Jake Wilson & Dennis Kirk on price, although DK will beat all prices by $1/ tire if you wait for their reps to look up prices. I think I'd have to go with the Michelins.

I noticed the opposite I think they feel softer, I know they were softer feeling to mount, not as hard of a side wall, could be good could be not so good, time will tell.

Do you have the original Commanders? I know they had a much softer sidewall, something they supposedly changed on the Commander 2s. How long have you had them on?

I just purchased the Michelin Commander II from Motorcycle Superstore... 295.98 for my 09 Ultra to my front door. The local HD Dealer wanted 660.00 for front & rear Stock Dunlops, but I did not like the way mine road and I complained, now they are telling me there was a recall on the front tire... but no thanks I will try something different. I was a Metzeler guy too, but I had two tires get goose eggs on the sidewall, so I have no alliance to any one brand. Local shop will mount, balance and install on my scooter for 50.00 each so I already saved enough to make it worth checking out!

I have about 700 miles on the commander II's. I like them so far. To me they feel a little softer and a little more positive in the curves. Time will tell on the mileage. All in all I like them better than the Dunlops so far.

I have about 2500 miles on a Michelin rear CommanderII.
It rides well and shows no wear, I am very pleased to not know how it does in the rain.
