Won't accelerate
I have a 2002 FLTR 95 in. with nice mods and carburated not injected.
the bike will not accelerate under full throttle. replaced crank sensor, new ignition, fuel accelerater diaphram, cleaned gas filter. The bike will slowely accelerate to highway speed and you can ride it all day that way but will not do any roll on acceleration at all when twisting the throttle full wide open It has new plugs, battery, and new stator. The bike has 0ver 68000 miles. Any suggestions would help |

Apply full throttle with engine off and watch that the throttle cam makes contact with the stop on the front side of the carb, and also that the butterfly valve is fully horizontal. 2. Vacuum port on slide may be plugged. 3. You replaced the diaphragm, but are you sure it isn't leaking? Diaphragm housing may be warped. Remove the cap and try applying some petroleum jelly on the sealing edges. 4. Fuel tank vent blocked or bad gas cap. 5. Fuel hose kinked or clogged. 6. Plugged bowl vent or overflow. 7. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet. 8. Slide may be jamming and unable to move upward. 9. Plugged jets or passages. 10. Fuel level too low. 11. Accelerator pump leaking or no output. |

OP you got a bunch of good tips from iclick, so it's back to basics time. Is this new, had any work been done recently, anything changed ? the stuff you did, crank sensor, petcock screen etc was this done after the problem surfaced or before Mike |
Sounds like its sumped and not returning oil to the tank. With those miles Ive seen the pump to case o-ring be hard as a rock and crack thus not creating a seal for the pump. Pull the plug on the case and see how much oil comes out.

I'd like to thank all of you that had some imput because each and every idea was plausable, Vacuum slide diaphragm was the culprit.
Now I have a brand new Crane ignition for sale as I didn't use it. I didn't realize there were so many things that could slow up a motor. I even looked into the oil filter thinking I had an Evo filter in it. Oil sumping is a good thing to look into. Now the bike has had a good going through and should be good for another 68,000 miles |
