We are heading to the Denver area this July, going to trailer the bike out from N IL to save some time. I have never trailered a bike before so where do I park the truck and trailer? Are HD dealers open to let people park in their lot? Thanks for any help.

Leave the truck & trailer home.

We rode out to Colorado Springs last year. Took hwy 36 from Hannibal Missouri over to Colorado line then down to the Springs. Took us 3 days, but, we left out from motel around 7 in the morning, stopped for breakfast and lunch, then back in a motel around 3 in the afternoon. only averaged 350 miles a day. Ended up 2 days in Colorado, 2 days in Wyoming, 3 days in South Dakota, then 3 days back to Southern Illinois. Fun trip and thinking of going again this July to ride some of the roads we missed last year.

I would call places of business like storage yards,maybe the dealers or motels.
May not be a good idea to just park on public street or shopping center parking lot.

Just ride it, cheaper on gas as well.

my wife and i have been trailering to colorado from indy, for the last four years. all i do is pull into a motel and tell them our intentions of leaving the truck and trailer in their lot for 2 weeks. i tell them we will spend the night there tonight, and one more night when we leave. i have never been turned down yet. we have met many people on bikes out there that do the same thing.

I would think that any hotel would let you keep in their lot for a few days if you stayed there a night.

I agree with several posters, RIDE! But, if you really want to trailer, Best Western Hotels are pretty biker friendly. Not sure what route you are coming in to the state but there are two dealerships right on I25 north of Denver if you come in from the north. High Country Harley in Frederick and Thunder Mountain Harley in Loveland that may let you park there. There are several dealers in the Denver Metro area as well.

A couple of riding resources provided by the CO Dept of Transportation, particularly the skill map. Will help you plan your routes based on level of difficulty.

You can download the map or click the link to contact Heather Halpape and she'll get one in the mail to you for free. Most MC dealers and shops will have them somewhere too. Handy little resource IMHO.
