Default How's about Harleys new manual adjustable primary chain tensioner

I just heard that Harley has come out with a manual primary chain tension adjuster for the 103's to replace the auto adjuster.
Anybody have any info. or experience with this new part?

Will there be a hinge on the primary cover ?
Most folks will doubt about their setting.

Harley will keep on testing their "new and improved" ideas on their customers, hoping they'll get lucky.
(What the hell, it's free.)

There was a thread on this. If I remember right, the guy was pretty high on it in the beginning but later determined it wasn't any good. I don't remember how he came to that conclusion but he seemed pretty knowledgeable. He had pics for the install as well.

I know some of the comments are made in fun but may be close to the truth for some folks. I am glad I don't need to worry about it myself.

It's a SE adjustable tensioner, it should be in the Screamin' Eagle Catalog. There are a couple threads about it, with part numbers and cost (around $150), etc.

Here's a pic I saved of it...

I purchased a Hayden just before I saw this one. Glad I stuck with the Hayden.

While all second hand...... on the Harley Tech Talk forum, a guy installed it and didn't like it at all. He said it was very noisy... He removed it.

Just an FYI......

It's for high power race applications.

The Screaming Eagle Manual Primary Chain Tension Adjuster is a real benefit in those aggressive racing situations where frequent drag racing starts and high rpm speed shifting are part of the riding experience. Ideal for bikes equipped with big displacement high performance (100hp+) engines that are regularly used for track-day drag racing; this Screamin' EagleŽ Tension Adjuster permits manual selection of primary chain tension.A direct replacement for the Original Equipment automatic version, this anodized billet aluminum adjuster allows you to fine-tune the settings, and lock the position when the freeplay is properly set. The manual adjustment locks the chain tension in place to prevent the chain from adjusting during severe shifting. Kit includes required mounting hardware.
