Default 2010 FLHX erratic oil pressure

I have a 2010 streetglide and have been back to the dealership 3 times for erratic readings on the oil pressure guage. First visit the oil sending unit was replaced, 2nd visit they said thay found a loose ground and 3rd visit they once again replaced oil sending unit. Guage will be reading 32 or so cruising at a steady speed then make erratic quick jumps anywhere from 0-32 sometimes sitting at 0 for a few seconds and back to 32. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? Any suggestions?

your oil pressure switch has two pins on it . One controls the guage and the other controls the oil pressure light. If your light is not coming on, but the guage is acting erratic, I would guess the problem is in the wiring.

really seems that they should fix this on-going and consistant problem for good.

A loss of oil pressure will cause complete motor failure, which may result in injury or fatality if being operated.

A reliable gauge gives the operator ( any, not just the owner), notice of mechanical condition.

Use big words which allows the dealer to understand that this is a liability issue.

- and that you have records which show this is on-going and needs to be fixed, not just "parts replaced" hoping to solve the unknown problem.

Could be a bad gauge- these are not exactly 'made in USA' quality. I think my HD gauge was stamped Made in Taiwan or China.

I had this issue with a Chevy truck I used to own. It was the sending unit.

It isn't the sending unit, did you read the OP?

I had a similar problem with the Oil Temp gauge that I installed. It turns out the mechanic who did the fuel tank recall fix pinched the oil temp wires between the fuel tank spacer and the frame... I fixed that and the problem is gone.
