Exactly what the guy in post above mine said, sure you can get away with it but should you? We all know these come from the factory lean and then do mods to worsen that condition then lie to ourselves so we feel better about not spending 5 or 6 hundred more to make the bike run right. Why spend tens of thousands on a bike and mods then cheap out on the most important part ...the tune? I see all the time and it baffles me lol

IMO your should get a good tune on any bike. The newer the bike, the leaner they run. A lean motor runs very hot and heat kills an engine. You will be glad you spent the money. runs cooler and runs like it should, not how the government thinks it should. I have a stock 96 with Stage 1 intake and slip-ons, oil cooler aswell. runs VERY GOOD and runs cooler than my older bikes with the stage 1 download. ride safe

Mapping needed really?
Ok, my 2018 Street Bob sounds weak at idle and revs. But while in gear, you really can gear the Harley sound. Especially 3rd & 4th when you "romp" on it. It's almost like it has to be in gear to sound good. Wanna put pipes on it so bad, but as we all know, it's never that simple. Between Stage 1's, tuning, fuel packs.. a $400 project can hit $1500 quickly.
Quickly changed $350 project to $1800 installed.
I have decided to save myself $500 in labor, install the slip ons and do the mapping and intake at another time. My personal opinion is HD parts counter guys are instructed to sell full stage one setup which is fine but doesn’t void your warranty if you choose not to.
