Exclamation Help Replacing 2009 FLHX Rear Fender with 2010+ Rear Fender

Hi all,

I just can't leave a good thing alone... I decided to refresh the look of my '09 Street Glide by replacing the rear fender with the 2010 rear fender. I know that the metal will fit just fine but my problem is the electrical stuff.

I already did a search in this forum, and others, but there was no thread with all the information needed.

Here is what I have, so far:
2010 FLHX rear render
2010 FLHX rear turn signals
2010 FLHX rear fascia with tri-bar run light (will be replaced with 2010 run/brake, part #67774-10, or use the 2009 that I have)
2010 Center-Mounted Auxiliary Run/Brake Light (HD Part # 68000029)

2009 FLHX rear fender with brake light, turn signals and wiring (on my bike)
2009 FLHX rear fascia with tri-bar run/brake light (on my bike)

My goal is to not cut any wires (if possible). I printed out the parts lists for both years for the the rear turn signals, fenders, etc. The problem is that they are a little confusing.

Has anyone done this conversion without cutting?
What other wiring parts do I need?
What do I need to do?
Any leads/information?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Did the 2010 fender come with the 2010 wiring loom? i would think that is just as simple as matching the wiring colors at the connector located under seat near rear fender. I have the wiring for the 2010 SG if your interested. PM me.

I just received the 2010 fender today with the brake/turn signals and tri-bar light. The only wiring that it has is the one from the brake/turn signals to the tri-bar light. It seems that the tri-bar has two connections. One is not used. I assume the wiring harness connects to that. I do not know the part number.

I would appreciate if you can send me the 2010 SG wiring diagram. I already have the 2009 diagram.

Thank you.

I think what you will need to do i make sure the wiring is correct from the 09 plug to the 10 plug

Does your 09 plug look like the 10 plug with the wiring order

Based on what I saw (which may be wrong) on the 2010 rear fender, the wiring harness comes in to the tri-bar light. The turn/stop lights connect to the tri-bar light also. Is that correct? The tri-bar light is not shown in the 2010 electrical diagram you posted.

Also, where does the Center-Mounted Auxiliary Run/Brake Light (HD Part # 68000029) connect?

What is the fender wiring harness part number?

I just found a 2011 rear fender electrical wiring diagram (a little clearer than the one z71_fourwheelin posted). It shows that the rear fender main wiring harness connects to the facia (tri-bar light) first.

Looks like you will have to buy the SG wire harness that goes along the rear fender or just buy the plug and add an extra ground wire in there.

Yes. That seems to be the easiest thing to do. Now I need to find out the connector types, which are probably different. The easiest way will probably be to get both harnesses and modify the one I will use. I moght also have to extend the harness some.

Does anyone have the FLHX rear fende harness part numbers for 2009 and 2010?
