Default lowering rear end on 02 ultra

what is recommended to lower rear in 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches from stock 13 inches? I have heard of a company in arizona that will take factory shocks and cut them down. Don't remember the name.

DO NOT use lowering blocks. Bitchin baggers is the best at lowering your stock shocks. I have mine dropped 1 1/2", which is 3/4" lower than the below photo of my bike. They recommend 1 1/2" for most bikes.

just be aware that a lowered bike has reduced lean angle ( cornering clearance)

The belt must be adjusted for the new height

the tire can chew up the wiring inside the rear fender if it bottoms out, any protruding bolts ( like the seat bolt) can chew up the tire. Tire contact can also heat up the fender and burn the paint off

and your ride is likely to be harsh- suspension travel is reduced.

I use the the -1" streetglide shocks ( 09+ style) on my FLHTC, and swap back to stock height when touring long distance.

The swap takes 20~30 minutes

09+ shocks bolt right up, the difference is in the valving/dampening

i have Bitchin Bagger 11" drop shocks on my 2008 FLHRC , you will not bottom out and tear up your wiring with BB shocks like you could with lowering blocks because the BB shocks have a stop built in that stop that.

11" might be a little low for a heaveyer ultra .. 11.5 might be as low as you want to go with an Ultra .

i love my BB shocks bike rides handles better / stiffer ride.

if your looking into lowering because your short . i sugest you look into having your seat MODifed buy MeanCity Cycle they lowered and narrowed my seat a cpl inchs and added memory foam for comfort . THRIFTY MOD just under $150 total including shipping both ways.

One other thing about lowering. If you are using larger than stock size tires you may get rubbing at full collapse (bottoming out).
