This spray fogged a windscreen on me- I don't use it anymore. Mike
I don't know what to tell you, Mike. I've used the Honda product (and now the Bike Spirits product, since the Honda stuff was banned in NJ due to the propellant used) since 2002, on my 2000 Shadow Spirit VT1100C, 1998 Valkyrie Tourer, 2006 Road Star and now my 2011 SG, and never had a problem with it.
I have the same wheels on my '10 EGC. I used Harley's wheel spoke brush with a rag wrapped around it to reach up behind the rotor. Also works great in cleaning between the spokes of the wheel, beats beating up your knuckles on the rotor.
I like my Pig Spit from my local Indy. The main thing is make sure the wheels are cool. I've seen too many guys ride all day, and then spray something on their bike to clean it and it "burns" on.
I used Flitz to clean my front wheel and it did a good job. If you have a lot grime and stains/marks on the wheel it'll take some elbow grease and time but it works. I put her on the lift, got my six pack, stool, tunes and clean rags and took my time. Flitz
Believe it or not they are easier to clean while dry. HD makes a spoke cleaning brush that will knock the worst of it off, or just use a dry rag, then a bit of wiping with an alchohol soaked rag. Presto Changeo.
I'd say ok with simple green..don't fantastic hurt the rubber...any local wheel cleaner spray at car detailing shop will do...I tried the HD wheel cleaner...does the job but I think there is better out there..use of pressure washer on wheels after spraying cleaner seems no brush scrubbing required.
Pressure washers very tough on wheel bearings don't ask me how I know
