Limp mode after PYO 12's
After the install of monkey bars 12'', the bike was cranking but no start after much double checking i found a mixed up wires in the harness . Changed it and the bike turned over right away but now with a check engine light and limp mode (does not rev over 2K) . Do i have to take it to the stealer or can i like reset the ecu ?
Or is it something with the TBW ? any tips to reset it or something ? |
Sounds like you have a problem with the TBW. It's not uncommon for the plug to come apart inside the bars. It will do that if you get a short in one of the TBW wires as well. Hopefully no other wires are crossed. Hate to say it but you may be pulling it apart.

no plug here , its a cvo bike

I would hate having to take it apart !!! that sux !! no way to reset ?

You can try turning the ignition switch on for 10 seconds then off for 10 seconds. Repeat 2 or 3 more times. I've read where this will reset the system. This worked for me but only for a short time. I had a broken wire in the harness causing my woes.
You may have more mixed up wires. The twist grip sensor sensor and the throttle body sensor send signals to the ECU and if they don't match up, the motor goes into limp mode or limited performance mode. So you may have bad wiring to/from the grip sensor. Check the codes. Mine were P1510, P2127 and P2138. This pointed to the twist grip sensor because the signal was not getting to the ECU. The codes will point you in the right direction. Post the codes. The list of codes and the way to check for codes can be found here http://www.harley-davidsonforums.com...procedure.html if you can't find them on this site. |
got P1510 , P2122,P2127,P2138

check to see if the tbw pins are correct and fully "snap" in the connector.
and make sure grip on throttle side is free to snap back |
Hashash, I'd bet your left one that your TGS did not survive the brutal pull. It sux, but you might as well bite the bullet, reload on patience, pay the $90 for a new TGS and do the right side again.
Dont ask me how I know.... |
Happened to me too on a handlebar install. :(

found a wire that was cut , soldered it and will get it back in
