Default Is a Stage 1 for Pep or Sound?

Dumb question here but I am wanting to do the Stage 1 for sound, pep is secondary. I have a stock 2012 RKC with SE Fatshotz. I am told by dealer: to add SE A/C and remap is all I need to complete a Stage 1. Are my expectations wrong?

your under warranty and want to maintain good relations with your dealer.....so that means when ever he sells you something....the bike will need a remap...tuner...dyno..etc.

You will add sound, but will enjoy the pep more.

Not sure I understand how completing a Stage 1 with the SE A/C and a remap will do anything for sound beyond what you already have with the Fatshotz. All that I see will be accomplished is a little additional pep and a little less heat.

I don't know that stage 1 changes the sound but as I experienced it on my ex-TC88 Deuce, it sure gave performance a noticeable boost!

If you were changing CAMS, then I would agree that there will be a sound change, but adding a new A/C and a tune - IMO, will not change the sound then what you have now with your new slip-ons.

Pipes are the only thing gonna do anything for your sound.

It all depends on what the air restriction is on your current setup. If the stock air breather provides more air then the exhaust can discharge than you will gain nothing (unlikely). If changing the breather increases the total air flow you will gain power. If the cat is the restriction ( as many state is the restriction) changing the intake or the exhaust or both will not effect performance as the cat would be the smallest orifice in the system. To many of us have done the stage one with positive results. The tune is required to correct the fuel ratio to your new air volume once the mod is made.

Your sound will change when you get rid of the cat and change head pipe
I just listened to bagger same 2012 as mine with rush slip ons and aftermarket head pipes without cats I have oem head with cats huge difference in column
I believe rush estimated 8 dB change whatever that means in harley talk I damn sure heard it
