How many of you have your significant other get on the bike before you? I have seen some do it and wondered if it is harder to get the bike upright. I also get on first and she gets on after.
Wife gets on after me, Daughter usually before me (she doesn't weigh much). Depends a little bit on where you are parked but yes, in some situations having the passenger on first makes it much more difficult to stand the bike up - at least for me. I also have my passenger dismount first.

I don't let her on till I am positioned and ready to pull forward. Too much unnecessary umph get bike off stand, push it around or whatever till I am in the position to go. I just lean forward a bit while on the bike and she has plenty of room to get on.
Wife gets on last and only after we verbally say " ready ?, OK get on " so we don't have a incident. Oh yes and she has to be Very careful not to scuff the lids and with my backrest in place it's kind of a PITA for her but she does a good job.
I suspect the answer to this depends on the relative sizes of the two parties! I imagine a petite wife changes the rules.
In our case we have no fixed routine. Mrs B is similar height to me and cuddlesome, so no lightweight! If I am on first I make sure the bike is level and put the jiffy down, so which ever one got on first I haul the plot upright off the jiffy. We now have a cordless intercom, so communications are fine.
I'm riding solo about 99.9% of the time, so if anybody wants a ride, I'm more comfortable with the passenger getting on first. When we stop, I won't let them off till the kickstand's down. While riding with a few of "the usual suspects" yesterday, I noticed the rider on first, and the wives on after they're ready to go. They ride 2 up almost all the time.
Wife always gets on after I am on the bike and ready to go. We have ridden together for so long, she can tell when I am ready for her to get on. She is tall and a lightweight BTW.
